Mushrooms and Menopause: A Panel Discussion and Tasting
Can mushrooms support people experiencing perimenopause and menopause? Join us for an in-person educational panel and functional mushroom tasting at Memoru Center for Visionary Healing Arts!
This panel brings together three co-founders of local mushroom organizations to discuss how mushrooms may support not only the symptoms and challenges of perimenopause and menopause, but those in the fullness of midlife. This season can bring wisdom, rites of passage, and deeper inner knowing, alongside changes to the body, mental health, and spiritual well-being.
Dr. Sara Lewis, co-founder of Memoru Center for Visionary Healing Arts, will be joined by Josh Walker, founder of Lost Garden Labs & Therapeutics (a licensed psilocybin cultivator), and Nicole Wolf, founder of West Wolf Medicinals (a medicinal mushroom company). Together, they’ll discuss current perspectives on psilocybin microdosing, deeper psychedelic experiences at therapeutic doses, and the role of functional mushrooms in supporting body, mind, and spirit during the transition into midlife.
Following the panel discussion, West Wolf Medicinals will offer a tasting of their functional mushroom blends.

Josh Walker
With 25 years of experience working with psilocybin mushrooms, Josh founded Lost Garden Labs and Therapeutics, a Colorado state-licensed natural medicine production facility. Alongside cultivating natural medicine under the regulated model, he is passionate about deepening the connection between people and the plant medicines that can support their journeys. His personal areas of focus include psilocybin mushrooms, mescaline-containing cacti, and DMT-containing plants.
Josh's path began at 19, working as a caregiver at a state mental facility in Kentucky, where early experiences ignited his interest in bodywork, Eastern philosophies, and holistic health. He graduated from the Natural Health Institute in Bowling Green, KY in 2006. In 2009, he established Whispering Creek Mushrooms near Gallatin, Tennessee, leading foraging groups and supplying gourmet mushrooms to Nashville's fine dining scene. Since 2017, Josh has consulted on mushroom projects nationwide — from organic food production to university psilocybin studies.
Nicole Wolf
Nicole Wolf grew up in the city and built her early career as an environmental activist and journalist with a lasting curiosity about science. When she moved West, she wanted hands-on, practical work away from a computer screen. She became fascinated with mushrooms, read widely, and attended growing workshops, and in 2019 she began growing mushrooms for her community in Boulder. When perimenopause arrived fast and hard, she started taking a daily powdered mushroom supplement on the advice of the local mushroom community, looking for support with focus and energy. Within weeks her memory sharpened and her stamina returned.
Frustrated by the deceptive marketing and low-quality products she found across the supplement market, Nicole spent years sourcing carefully before founding her own company to offer the quality and variety of mushroom extracts she wished had been available to her. The business is family run: her husband Ben handles production and fulfillment, and her sons Sashi (20) and Tenzin (17) help when needed. The family tends West Wolf Farm on Cherryvale Road, home to bees, mushrooms, a vegetable farm, a native pollinator garden in progress, two rescue dogs, and nineteen ducks.
